I caution farmers and those with lap tops boarding a plane when under the influence. They could trigger an air marshal if they slur their words or act cavalier: he could mistake “I’m heading for my farm” for “...bomb.” Or a frustrated Laptopper might grimace to a fellow passenger and blurt, “This damn laptop is a bomb.”

Pardon the presumptuousness, but why not consider purchasing my book--both volumes--from   w ww.publishamerica.com  and search for Tale of Love & War ?

President Bush was eloquent in his speech, honoring veterans and current servicemen. The nation needed to be reminded of the horror of the terrorists' objective to dishonor human decency and world peace. The Democratic politicians also had to be reminded that they, too, overwhelmingly supported the war. I did not, however, appreciate his rehashing the politicized strategy of reminding us that he is indeed the 9/11 commander in chief by excoriating his critics.     ...

I proudly but humbly submit this excerpt of my novel, part 2 in honor of Veterans Day:   Well into the month of June of 1945, the battle of Okinawa still raging, Sally, having deposited the war collection at the coalyard this Saturday, swung open one of the garage doors and pushed in the garden cart, then latched the door. She stepped into the back entry and jumped the steps into the kitchen and immediately checked through the mail her mother always left in the napkin holder on the ta...

Who said crime doesn’t pay? — surely, not Martha Stewart. There is high hope for Iraq — thanks to the high number of women in government. If social security had begun as personal accounts, the wealthy by far would have the major share; as it stands the return value is greater for the poor. How is it there isn’t a stampede for Reagan’s features on Mt. Rushmore; or was the right wing flap expended by their crusade to dump Daschle? Is President Bush really concerned over his twin daughters’ be...

I can understand the necessity of pimpin’ military humvees with hill billy armor, but when major car manufacturers join the “pimp my ride” craze they have become not only un patriotic but obscene. Newsweek quotes a Chrysler executive, “we need to work with friends like Dub [hip-hop car magazine] because we’re old.” One has to wonder if the turmoil in Iraq is already a forgotten war. The Big Three in WWII were war heroes in the way they banded together to produce a war machine like no other w...

Resolve to continue to watch Desperate Housewives in spite of moralists’ pressure not to. Resolve never to pick up the phone until the message begins and I’m sure it is not a telemarketer. Despite the nation’s move to the right, I resolve to move further to the left. Resolve to email my senators and representative to vote against privatizing social security. Resolve to get the hell out of Florida if there’s another hurricane this new year.

The projected $2trillion social security transition cost of privatizing treated lightly by the administration is no surprise — what’s another trillion or so added to an $8 trillion national debt — besides, most of it will go to the profiteers on Wall Street, which has great expertise in robbing other people’s money. Driving this home is the Christmas bonuses to over 150,000 employees of the Street, averaging over 100 grand for each, the grand total of which comes to $14.9 billion! Something i...

In light of yesterday's Mosul tragedy, isn't it about time we send in crack special forces to avenge the cruel deaths of our troops?

Though we are told the “economy is doing nicely, thank you very much,” it is equivalent to the head of the household perceiving his or her budget in the same manner without referencing the debit column. According to The Washington Post , since 2000 revenue from income tax has declined 3% in conjunction to the GDP, and 1.2% in corporate tax whereas government spending as a percentage of GDP has risen 1.22% or a total of the GDP of over 5%. How can this stimulate the economy? Simply put: by b...

So maybe it isn’t such a big deal — what’s a commitment to reduce carbon dioxide by a mere 5.2% of 1990 levels by 2011? Notwithstanding, it is actually a greater reduction compared to the pollutants currently, except that the US responsible for 36% of pollutant gases refuses to sign on. However, Russia’s 17% of the world’s pollution aids the industrial nations to reach the 55% usage of gases in order that the protocol be approved and viable. Further good news is that US corporations working i...

Guns Except for NRA extremists, thanks should be given that the right to bear arms is not driven to the forefront of the current election. Frankly, it never should have been one to begin with because at no time were gun owners threatened. There was always allowance for genuine gun-collectors to hang any fire-arm above the mantel piece and no true hunter, unless he went on a safari, really gave a damn about assault weapons. Life and Science Although pro-life vs. pro-choice...

Congratulations go to the Bush administration and the unheralded US troops in Afghanistan for making the elections there relatively trouble free. Credit also goes to the dedication of the European-Union and UN for a successful oversight of ballot integrity. Not least are the substantial numbers of loyal of allied troops that also contributed in maintaining the peace. And surely, accolades go to the extraordinary courage of the women in Afghanistan in turning out to give voice ...
