Constructive gadfly

President Bush was eloquent in his speech, honoring veterans and current servicemen. The nation needed to be reminded of the horror of the terrorists' objective to dishonor human decency and world peace. The Democratic politicians also had to be reminded that they, too, overwhelmingly supported the war.

I did not, however, appreciate his rehashing the politicized strategy of reminding us that he is indeed the 9/11 commander in chief by excoriating his critics.

I knew there was a But!

But this is good!  You are the worst thing to happen to the Republicans as I said.  Keep it up!  We will never agree, but we may one day vote for the same candidate.

I am afraid I didn't have the tummy to watch it.

Who watched it?  I think we did listen to it.  Not bad, and Steven's analysis is pretty accurate.  Which for him was a "hip Hip Hooray and a slam" and for me was a "Hip Hip hooray, and a calling to task".

There are times I cannot stomach the president either, but give credit when its due.

But! We agree to disagree.

C-span ran the speech in prime-time Friday night, the sound bite portion was toward the end, it was a great speech even if it took to task the Dems.....

I wonder if comparing the Islamic Fanatics with the old Communist will be the new spin on the War on Terrorism?

comparing the Islamic Fanatics with the old Communist
I don't think it will get very far just as the "godless communism" tag didn't work. It was communism's totalitarianism that led foremost to its destruction. I'm afraid hammering away at the concept of terrorists' "defiling a great religion" is the wrong approach. It is the religion itself that defiles human life and dignity.

It depends on the audience.  It worked on the intended audience.

Granted, but as a "new spin" for overseas, it is doubtful.

Also Granted.

Does this mean {Shock} we agree?

Shock? More like an explosion.

I agree, the commie tag works for the choir, but falls rather flat in the open market.
Speaking of market, when is there going to be a full scale marketing campaign to "sell" this war, answer all of the accusations, and generally turn the mood of this country?
I agree with the reasons we're there, and I understand why, but I fault the administration for not "keeping the home fires burning", while allowing anti-war opposition to spread.
The obvious policy of "ignore it and they'll go away" has failed. Let's charge some Congressman with subversion!! Let's accuse Kerry of giving aid and comfort to the enemy!
Let's publicly charge Terry Shiavo with dragging the memory of her son through the mud!
Do something damnit! Sticking your fingers in your ears and going "lalalala" ain't cuttin' it.

  When the Dinosaurs return.

That is Cindy Sheehan.  Terry Schiavo has no comment.
