Constructive gadfly

At a time when Congress is attempting to work out some rather reasonable restraints on the administration’s surveillance operations, defense lawyers are throwing a monkey wrench into the fray by outlandish lawsuits and appeals in behalf of convicted terrorists. The first reaction will naturally be that liberals are in support of this countermove, which is ridiculous as it would undermine their pursuit of lightening up on the Patriot Act and surveillance.

It is only rediculous for a sane person.  However, the leadership of the left has demonstrated time and time again that sanity must be checked at the door in their ardent hatred of Bush.  So yes, we can believe it of them, for the simple reason they are doing it!  Check out my Little Red Book Article for a clear and demonstrable demonstration of it by none other than Ted Kennedy.

I am totally not surprised in the least by this turn of events.

Defense attorneys, by their very nature, will pounce upon any breath of scandal or impropriety in order to secure a not guilty verdict. That's their job; it's why they get the big bucks.

It may have the opposite effect: attempts at undermining Patriot Act legislation may just harden and embolden defenders and supporters of it. It's a strange beast, politics. We'll just have to see how this plays out.

their ardent hatred of Bush.
Why do you always harp on the hate issue?--its less intense than than the hatred for Clinton. I'll check out the red book.

ramsey clark?

i believe he's a lot less innarested in getting saddam off the hook (or in any way innarested in that end) as he is in trying to ensure saddam's prosecution isn't limited solely to those reprisal killings--considering the much larger scope of hussien's crimes.

while that may seem to be a rather jaundiced view of an ulterior motive, consider the machinations involved in preventing those other crimes from going before a court.
