Constructive gadfly

Obama is over zealous in offering tax incentives or credits for domestic green industries in order to broach the labor famine. What is wrong with this county that it cannot get its citizenry to "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"?

What industry would not be proud to  take part in building the future without expecting handouts. Haven’t we had enough of that since Nov. ‘08? Yet why are so many employers so willing to shit on labor by pulling up roots in order to profit from overseas sweatshops. It’s one thing by enhancing productivity by advanced tooling, and quite another to terminate labor altogether by going elsewhere, yet have the balls, after selling out its country, to sell back to us.

"ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"

That's because it is "what can I do for me, and my family?" It's the way the country has gone now-a-days. Everyone is out for themselves, which seems logical because who else will be?

I think people are sick and tired of the government, certain people, corporations, etc. They're flat out tired of them and frankly don't give a damn much anymore. They're fighting to survive in a nation that is...problematic. I think some even feel that the American dream is now a myth.

Part of the problem is the "green" technology is not yet deveoped enough. This administration is putting the cart before the horse (as you say over-xealous).

I just saw a piece two days ago a company called "Evergreen", it makes solar panels. It is getting ready to ship jobs to China so they can make money. I guess the workers don't want to work for free and the company doesn't want to operate at a loss. This situation would be fine in the old Soviet Union, they often made equipment for years that wasn't needed. History appears to support that that didn't work out to well for them. Workers of the world unite...right? The IRS accepts checks for those that want to give more to the country. I believe they take a pretty good share "for the country" without help. Maybe if they didn't squander the generous helping they do get.

Agreed, not all of it is ready yet - but you would be surprised as to what is. It's remarkable really.

Welcome to capitalism, not to be confused with socialism or communism.

Let me know when you ask for minimum wage at your next job, so you can give back something.  We'll see just how capitalist you are.

Billions have already been poured into "green" technology, and what has it gotten us?  Nada.  It has nothig to do with patriotism, it has everything to do with capitalism.  It just is not economically feasible yet.  The way to make it so is also very painful - and the only honest thing Obama stated during the campaign.

The exodus of the companies is solely due to the liberals attempts to punish them.  Why stay and get burned?  They have been already and the democrats only promise more of the same.  If you want them to stay, treat them as valued members of society instead of pariahs

Dont make me laugh.  Liberals never give, they just take.  But they expect everyone else to give.

Still, whether a dream or not, there has to be a matrix of some semblance of cooperative spirit or we'll all fo the way of the Mideast. Though you seem optimistic here:

I doubt you really believe that.

Let me know when you ask for an outlandish bonus so you can give back something.

Ideally that would be nice Steven, though the cynic/realist/pessimist in me can't help but go "yeah...right, that'll happen." I'm optimistic because I want to hold out hope for a more...humane society, so to speak - but sometime it just doesn't look anywhere anywhere close to that.

Nex time you go and take a pay cut or give most of your earnings to people - let me know. Additionally, I've never had a job where I've gotten more than minimum wage and - sorry, this will chafe your willy probably - I still give to charity, essentially shorting myself for the sake of others. I also plan on, if I am successful in my chosen career, to live life modestly. I don't need fancy things, thanks. (What about those fat cat CEOs again?)

Anyways....what's this you were saying about liberals again? Geesh.

Bullshit Doc, as usual, but it's never like you give a damn about proof.

I doubt you really believe that.

Having observed Doc's growing shril nature lately, I have no doubt he does. It seems to be the common thread with left and right zealots.

You are going to ruin my reputation.

I'm worth every penny they pay me, including bonus (which are taxed at the highest tax rate BTW, why give when they have no problem taking?).

Spoken like a true douche bag that doesn't know what paying taxes is like.

Nex time you go and take a pay cut or give most of your earnings to people -

Not going to happen and I'm not advocating that in the first place. I give plenty through taxes and charity. Leave it to a liberal to suggest to someone else to give away their pay check. Aways generous with other peoples money, right. Maybe you'll wake up when mommy stops paying the bills. Good luck with your modest income, I take a big Mac, fries, and a coke.

College boy?  He never went to college (but he has a doctorate).  He is a leech on society whose giving rivals Kerry, Gore and Obama's i.e. less than 1%.  And he is google impaired.

Maybe he can bing it.
