Constructive gadfly

Again, according to Factcheck: The charge that Kerry is "endlessly changing positions on Iraq" is without factual support. In fact, Kerry has never wavered from his support for giving Bush authority to use force in Iraq, nor has he changed his position that Bush should not have gone to war without greater international support, and without making greater efforts at diplomacy backed by the threat of force.

Here's what Kerry said on the Senate floor before voting to give Bush the authority:

Kerry (Oct. 9, 2002) Let there be no doubt or confusion about where we stand on this. I will support a multilateral effort to disarm him (Saddam) by force, if we ever exhaust those other options, as the President has promised, but I will not support a unilateral U.S. war against Iraq unless that threat is imminent and the multilateral effort has not proven possible under any circumstances.

When the San Francisco Chronicle combed through 200 of Kerry's speeches and statements on Iraq, it found instances of "clumsy phrases and tortuously long explanations" that made Kerry's position difficult to follow. But it also found that "taken as a whole, Kerry has offered the same message ever since talk of attacking Iraq became a national conversation more than two years ago."

So much for flip-flopping — nuances and complex sentences do not make one irresolute.

That hardly disproves Kerry being a flip flopper.

flip flopper

Better word is panderer, a panderer who has a plan. Of course to learn of his plan you must go to his website to read about them, BUT even than it tells more about his goals and not plans to accomplish those goals. Than is that plan really a plan than if it only lists goals of the plan?

I believe there is a diference between flip-flopping and changing the mind when faced with new facts and events.

Are you looking at factcheck.com or factcheck.org (since they are quite different)?

Bush's main evidence of Kerry's flip-flopping has been Kerry's stand on Iraq. The San Francisco Chronicle says Kerry has had a consistent position on Iraq. That undercuts Bush's main evidence of Kerry being a flip-flopper.

Somehow, they are limiting the scope of their "fact check" in some fashion. I've seen video and heard audio that gives the lie to the claim of consistency. All you have to do is review some of the Dem primary debates.

Talk of Kerry's being "inconsistant" is all the Bushies really have going for them, because if they actually ran on their record, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Neither would Kerry.

Is that not freaking hilarious and sad at the same time?
