“Four More Years of Bush” means unlimited corporate power and the end of a woman’s right to choose. … In light of the Republican Convention's convenient love affair with moderates Giuliani and Schwarzenegger, the campaign managers were spared having to ask Olympia Snowe to speak inasmuch as she’s been dubbed a “Daschle Republican” because of her fight to limit tax cuts. … I omitted John McCain from the “moderate” list because he is deeply conservative — he just doesn’t like to be told to follow the line, even his wobbly speech showed that. … Yet even he would be better than Senator Chaffee, whom the party looks upon with revulsion. … The Republican congress intends to increase the first year tax write-off of business equipment to 70% of costs, which would increase the tax breaks to $271 billion for business since 2002. … When are we going to “end corporate welfare as we know it?” … It is known as sinful to be against fattening the defense budget as though the cash poured into it would have prevented 9/11. The trouble with unlimited resources is that it effectuates precisely what happened after the invasion of Afghanistan whittled down to national boredom and lack of administrations’ will. With plenty to spare in the defense coffers, to keep things interesting, Bush created, under the guise of rooting out the spread of terrorism, another war, rather than taking a deep breath and explore other strategies. …
