"Failure to connect the dots"—deja vu. What this means is the failure to connect various agencies concerned. Yet even this rationalization doesn’t address the issue of human sloth and incompetence. Perhaps the solution lies in awarding these agencies bonuses when in the unlikely event they arrest the terrorists before boarding the plane. Wait! Just as with the Wall Street Dummies, don’t these government employees already get a living wage? When is enough, enough?

What is that expression - "Good enough for government work"?

And you want them running health care?

If you only knew how many get busted by our profilers you would not make that statement.

I'm counting on that being true, Paladin.

It probably is correct, but the hundreds of arrests are dwarfed by a single incident resulting in disaster. As said many times the terrorists are riding the gamble that it only takes one mistake.

The unclass version: every week we average 30 hand guns, Yes, after 911 we still have people that are so out of it that they don't know it is wrong to bring a loaded gun on a plane. We got one bomb, the only one in the nation so far. THat was done by the provilers not the X-ray.

Right we have to be perfect 100% of the time they only have to get lucky once. 7+ years of homeland and tsa with no successful attacks. The only weakness they have found is coming in from outside of the country.

And the next sucessful one will probably be that way as well.  The system is not perfect, but why try a frontal assault on a difficult target when there is always the soft underbelly that is vulnerable.  The Christmas bomber showed that to be easy and successful.  His failure was not due to any safeguards, but just his incompetance and the vigilance of a passenger.

Actually there are two ways to do this, the first is to attack the TSA guys, killing them at random to make people quit. this will create a vulnerability for them. the second is to attack airports rather than planes.

It would be easy to attack, but the effect would be?  I dont know.  perhaps they fear getting off one shot and then getting one between the eyes, where in a plane, if they get off the shot, everyone on it dies.

Terror is terror. The purpose is to create fear and use fear to disrupt. that is the replacement for their army. Fear fights where they can not. I posted several years ago that terrorism works but is only effective the first five years. After five years terror failes and it has been over five years since we began to fight back. They lost but refuse to lay down and die. There is one way they can still win and that is politically. Cause a divide between us and let us do the dirty work. It worked in Korea and Vietnam and has a chance of working now if they play thier cards right. That is why AQ supported the Democrats against Bush. He was the reason they failed, the plan was to fight this battle agains Gore, Everyone knew he was going to win and democrats always run away from a fight. WIth Bush in power the only thing they could do is lay low and wait. Well, Bush is gone and in one year we have had 44 attacks against us. Yes, we had 1400 attacks during Bush but none got as far as the pantie bomber. No attacks on our soil during Bush but three sucessful attacks durning the first year of Obama. Loss of key allies since Obama took over has helped them get this far. One year down and four to go, any bets on when the next successful attack will be?
